Jeff Kabondo has worked in Malawi’s governance space in a career spanning over twenty years. His scope of work in governance covers areas such as anti-corruption, democratic and corporate governance.

Kabondo has contributed substantially in Malawi’s anti-corruption work through the development and implementation of the first National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) in 2008 and the successor NACS II in 2019; coordination of the 2013 Malawi’s National Integrity System (NIS) assessment and the re-establishment of Malawi’s national chapter of Transparency International (TI); and carrying out consulting assignments on governance, especially on transparency and accountability issues.

Kabondo is also one of the key pioneers of civic and voter education through his illustrious career of 12 years at Malawi’s flagship civic and voter education project (National Initiative for Civic Education, NICE) implemented under the collaboration of Malawi Government and the European Union.

Between 2008 and 2010, Kabondo was at the helm of NICE management which included providing stewardship of the project during the 2009 Parliamentary and Presidential Elections. In 2013, Kabondo was part of a two experts’ team which developed MEC’s Civic and Voter Education Strategy for Malawi’s 2014 Tripartite Elections.

Between 1994 and 2000, Kabondo served as a Secondary School teacher of English and French under Malawi’s Ministry of Education.

Jeff Kabondo has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Social and Political Philosophy) obtained from Bolton University and University of Malawi, respectively.
