Director of Administration and Human Resources

Dr Chikapa is a Human Resource specialist with 26 years’ experience in administration and human resources. He has worked both in private and public sector.

Dr Chikapa holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration with Exploits University obtained in 2016, Masters in Business Administration from ESAMI obtained in 2008, and Bachelor of Social Science from University of Malawi-Chancellor College obtained in 1992.

Before joining MEC in September 2022, Dr Chikapa started his professional career with Malawi Army now Malawi Defence Force in 1992 where he joined as private soldier and was promoted to Sergeant before Commissioned as Full Lieutenant at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst at Surrey in United Kingdom in 1996. He is further a graduate in military finance (1997) from United States Army Finance School, Fort Jackson, South Carolina in the United States of America.

He has attended several human resources courses both within and outside Malawi with reputable institutions such as ESAMI(Zanzibar), Mananga Centre for Regional Integration and Management (Swaziland), Franklin Covey, MIM and TEVETA amongst others. He also served at Industrial Relations Court for two terms as an employer panellist. He is a member of Institute of People Management.

Dr Chikapa has worked for Limbe Leaf Tobacco Company (1999 to 2007) in the following positions, Staff Manager, Human Resources Manager after leaving the Malawi Defence Force in 1999. He further worked as Administrator in South Korea for 3 months overseeing a project for dismantling a tobacco processing plant under Premium Tobacco Malawi Limited in 2008. After a successful tour of duty in South Korea, Dr Chikapa was employed fully by Premium Tobacco Malawi Limited as Head of Administration and Human Resources from 2009 to 2021. Dr Chikapa brings in vast experience and knowledge in administration and human Resources to MEC.
